The parents of her are Harvey Welker who is Native American as well as Julie Welker who is African-American. She is the mother of an agent for real estate, and her father holds a degree in engineering. She graduated from the Germantown Friends School which is located in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, in the year 1994. Then, in 1998 she received her degree at Harvard College with a Bachelor's degree.
